Flood havoc in 9 states, 238 dead, heavy rain alert

Floods continue in 9 states including Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan. So far, 238 people have died due to floods. Kerala has suffered the maximum 92 deaths due to floods.
54 people have lost their lives in Karnataka, 34 in Uttarakhand, 32 in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, 24 in Gujarat. An alert has been issued in several states including Gujarat and Uttarakhand within the next two days.

Kerala most affected
Kerala has suffered a lot due to the floods caused by the incessant rains. So far, a total of 92 people have died due to floods in the state. More than 2 lakh 87 thousand people have to leave their homes and take shelter in more than 1654 relief camps.
At the most, 18 people have died in Wayanad which is spread over three districts of Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram.

54 people died in floods in Karnataka
Heavy rains and floods continue to wreak havoc in Karnataka. So far 54 people have died due to floods. The Karnataka government has demanded an assistance of Rs 3,000 crore for relief work. More than 14,000 houses in Karnataka have been damaged due to floods.
Drinking water, food, medicines, clothes, blankets and other facilities are being provided to 1,57,498 people seeking shelter in 624 relief camps in the affected areas and their broken houses are being repaired.

Heavy rains will occur in these states
Heavy rains are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, coastal areas of Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh. There will be heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Gujarat and Konkan regions.
